The day I got the call from my endocrinologist, I was referred to a surgeon to discuss the procedure and get it scheduled. Keep in mind that the endocrinologist was referred from my primary doctor and the surgeon was referred by my endocrinologist. The reason I am mentioning this is because I feel like this was the path God wanted me to take. I have to admit that up until now, I have been a bit down on traditional medicine. But, my tune has certainly changed and I was now accepting that God created the doctors just like He created me and that He gave them wisdom and experience to deal with what was going on with me physically.
My first visit to the surgeon was on May 31, a couple of weeks after the call where I was told I would need to have my thyroid removed. Right away, I felt comfortable with the surgeon. He was not only knowledgeable but was also personable and seemed to take his time to get to know about me and what I had found out.
He agreed with the endocrinologist that I needed surgery to remove my thyroid. And, after praying, seeking guidance from family and friend, I felt at peace about having the surgery.
