The past couple of decades have ushered in so many self-help books and programs about how to grow yourself as a person. There are some good principles in many of these books but there are also many principles that only support the growth being done by one’s self alone. That is where I believe they are unhealthy to our personal growth as a Christian Business Woman.
Ultimately, our growth comes from God. Since He created us, I am confident that He knows us better than we know ourselves So, as a Christian woman, you need to find out what God says about how to grow yourself.
As a Christian Business Woman, your growth should not come from your own self-confidence but rather from who you are in Christ. Philippians 1:6 “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Did you hear that, God has already began a good work in you and He will complete that work. Here are seven things you can do daily to grow yourself as a child of God.
Just like your physical body needs food, your spiritual body needs to feed on the Word of God, The Bible. "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3:16
Each breath you take is a gift from God. Take time to pray each day and breathe in God’s Spirit. “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Job 33:4
As a child of God, your sins are forgiven (past, present and future). However, you don’t want unconfessed sin to come between you and God so confess your sin right away. “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” I John 1:9
God did not create us to be alone. He created us to be in fellowship with one another. We can help each other grow as we walk in faith. “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.” Ecclesiastes 4:9
Just like your body needs exercise to perform at peak performance, your Spirit needs to exercise your gifts through service to others. Your business can be a gift to so many. “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” I Peter 4:10
To grow yourself, you need to commit yourself and everything you do to the Lord. “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3.
A part of growing is to also show up as yourself. It is time to stop comparing yourself to anyone else and own who you are from the inside out. This means reflecting who God created you to be in your appearance.
You gain confidence as you grow yourself in God’s rich grace and mercy. A part of that inner confidence needs to be reflected from the inside out. You are your brand and how you show up to the world is important. Not just to your prospective clients but to you as well. Grow yourself in God and then let that one-of-a-kind original, beautiful you show up in the way you dress yourself each day.
