You Are Valued

February 28, 2017

Today I reflect on all the years I wasted feeling insignificant and insecure. I found myself always comparing how I looked and what I did to others. These feelings kept me feeling depressed and feeling unworthy. I have been a Christian since I was 12 years old but I was not taught my value as God’s child.

I thank God that He never gave up on me and taught me through His Word that I am valuable. I was created before the foundations of the world to be me. God created me with a plan and for a purpose. I have learned that no one else can be just like me. No one else can share my message the way I can. I have learned that God made me just the way He wants me and that empowers me and give me freedom to be the best me possible.

Feelings of insecurity and unworthiness come from a lack of confidence in yourself. Have you experienced or are you experiencing insecurity and feeling like you are not good enough? Let me share with you three profound truths from God’s Word that confirm that you are more than enough in Christ.

God Chose You

God created everything! He created you out of love. God’s creations are perfect. That is not to say that we don’t stumble and allow the enemy to keep us defeated but I do want you to know that God chose YOU. Let that wash over you and fill you with a sense of peace and calm. You are divinely and uniquely created by God. He not only created you but He chose you.

“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” Ephesians 1:4 (NLT)

Once you accept what Jesus did for you on the cross and believe that He is the Son of God, you are faultless in God’s eyes. Any sin you have committed in the past, in the present and even in the future are all covered by the blood of Jesus and His sacrifice for you. Jesus intercedes for you. There is no one to condemn you.

“Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us” Romans 8:34 (NIV)

There is No One Like You

No one has your same fingerprints. No one has your same footprints. You, my friend, are created uniquely by God to be you. How does that make you feel? I hope it makes you feel so special because you are. You are a one-of-a-kind original. God doesn’t make mistakes. He created you for a purpose.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalms 139:13-16 (NIV)

Knowing that you are unique and have a purpose should give you power to accomplish whatever God wants you to do. Sometimes, I think we get side-tracked by taking control of everything that happens in our life (or at least we think we are in control). Letting go and letting God use you for the very reason He created you should give you such freedom and peace.

I encourage you to stop listening to the enemy when he says you are not valuable, you are not smart enough and you are not good enough. The enemy wants to keep you from the truth and what God says about you. Choose today who you will listen to and who you will find your security and confidence in. I choose to listen and find my confidence and contentment in God.

God’s Love for YOU is Higher, Wider and Deeper Than You Can Imagine

Think of the people in your life you love. If you are married, there is a deep love for your spouse. If you are a parent, there is such deep love for your children and you can’t imagine loving them more. Now, take how much you love in your human flesh and multiply it times infinity. That is how much God loves you. God loves you so much that He gave up His only Son for you.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“…but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—“ Ephesians 2:4-5

“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:9-11

Are you really hearing how much God loves you? Can you even imagine giving up someone you love to save others? That is what God did for you. He loves you that much. His love is what makes you valuable. Let that soak deep into your soul. You are loved!
